Food news round up including a bagel favourite's London pop up and some must-listen podcasts

HOT BAGELS:
As many Jewish families may also have done, we celebrated the King’s coronation with a very haimish spread of my favourite New York-style 'everything' bagels from Radlett’s bagel + schmear. Perfect topped with slices of salty smoked salmon or slathered with thick, dill-flecked cream cheese and for the younger members of my family — plain bagels with a schmear bursting with blueberries.

I’m lucky Radlett (home to bagel + schmear) is on my doorstep. London-based bread lovers may want to hotfoot it to Taste London at Regent’s Park (June 14 – 18) where you’ll be able to get your hands on the crisp, chewy bagels and range of flavoured schmears.

If you’re after a new podcast and like a bit of Jewish-related content, check out Ruthie’s Table. I found it via the JC’s spot of Yotam Ottolenghi’s comments on the (not so) great English breakfast and his secret school lunch ham sandwiches when growing up.

It’s a great listen and led me to an episode in which Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel share their Jewish food histories plus a two-parter featuring Jamie Oliver. Well worth a listen. Find it on Spotify or wherever you find your podcasts.

And while you’re there, the new JC podcast — Let’s Talk — hosted by our editor, Jake Wallis-Simons who schmoozes with guests like Rob Rinder (in the first episode) is worth clicking on.
