About us

The Jewish Chronicle has been at the heart of the British  Jewish community since 1841.

On its first front page it declared "We feel that we have done something that may "rescue us from the common fate of mankind -  oblivion"  and promised to "make every Jew familiar with the condition of his fellow-Israelites".
We have been keeping that promise ever since, reporting on more than 180 years of news, and reflecting the diverse voices and opinions that make up the Jewish people.

From the battle for Jewish emancipation, to the early years of modern Zionism; the Aliens' Act of 1905 and the Balfour Declaration; Mosley's blackshirts;  through the horrors of the Holocaust and the birth of the state of Israel, the Jewish Chronicle has brought a distinctive Jewish point of view to its journalism.~

In recent years, we investigated the institutional antisemitism which infested the Labour Party, and the pain of the October 7 Hamas attack on southern Israel and the subsequent war.

In the past we produced print products - newspapers and magazine -  now we have added a website and social media, podcasts and events. We look forward to chronicling the Jewish world for many more years.
