This Shabbat will be only the fourth time Valentine’s Day has fallen on a Friday this century.

And while it’s not a festival we mark, when the shops and social media are jam packed with love hearts, you may want to show your guests a little love with a few indulgent treats.
You can’t beat a chocolate brownie and I’ve rounded up our best recipes to gift or serve as dessert that everyone will fall for.

1. Salted caramel chocolate brownies – the ultimate bake. Denise Phillips’s recipe is gooey, chewy and filled with everyone’s favourite swalty (salty sweet) spread. You can bake these dairy or parev, making them the perfect finish for your meal. (Picture at the top of this page.)

2. Cherry cheesecake chocolate brownies – I took Black Forest cake as my inspiration for this dairy delight. Frozen cherries make it an anytime treat

3. If your beloved is on a health kick these raw chocolate fridge brownies from Lisa Roukin are bound to go down a treat. Packed with heart-healthy oats and sticky sweet Medjool dates they’re one of my all-time favourites recipes from the lovely Lisa.

4. A pecan brownie is definitely the OG of the chocolate bake and this recipe from the Gail’s kitchen is a winner. It’ll have your loved ones swooning for sure.

5. Love will be in the air when you serve up my winning gooiest chocolate brownie recipe. It’s been doing me proud for years and makes the most fabulously fudgy chocolate brownies. For the most gooey finish, the trick is to be brave and take them out the oven even if they haev a bit of a wobble. They’ll be fine!

6. If you love your family so much you want to keep them healthy, this is the way to sneak some veggies into your bake. These beetroot and chocolate brownies from Emily Ezekiel are so delicious and they’ll never guess your secret ingredient.
