A Kosher food maker has caused widespread concern after tweeting about "gefilte dogs" in time for American July 4th Independence Day celebrations.

Manischewitz, a leading brand of Kosher products in the US, engaged in a Twitter conversation about "gefilte meat", and triggered both outrage and concern by announcing hot dogs made of gefilte fish, which even the official twitter account of the state of Israel objected to.

A Twitter account called @JewWhoHasItAll tweeted that they had "established that hot dogs are gefilte beef / gefilte meat or kishke and corn dogs are kibbeh", to which Manischewitz replied with: "Our DMs, PMs and other Ms have been blowing up with this.

"We're gonna set the record straight here. Hot Dogs are nothing like Gefilte Fish. GFish is made of the highest quality, freshest fish....hot dogs? Who knows?"

Another Jewish Twitter user replied, saying: "There's room in Judaism for different points of view", and another user, Erin Piateski, added: "I don't know why Manischewitz is so down on gefilte beef. Maybe they are just jealous because they don't sell gefilte beef in their product line?"

In response to the clear shade thrown by Piateski, Manischewitz responded with a controversial announcement: "You asked, we listened. The R&D team hasn't slept all week and now the factory will be cranking out these babies 24/6. Just in time for July 4th!"

They attached an image of a new products called "gefilte dogs" that are "made with real gefilte fish", calling it "an American tradition your Bubbie will love."

The reaction has been swift, with a mixture of jokes, happiness, and revulsion expressed by the Twittersphere. Even Israel got involved, tweeting: "Haven't the Jewish people suffered enough?"

An Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs official responded: "There’s no amount of horseradish that can fix this", while the Jerusalem Post news desk manager, Shira Silkoff wrote: "say sorry. say sorry RIGHT NOW".

@M0rvram replied: "You're not joking right? Because I actually kinda want to try this. Please don't be joking", to which Manischewitz said: "We don't joke about food."

Twitter user @Danielsand wrote: "The only acceptable way to cook this is with our space lasers", in reference to US Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene's infamous assertion that a "Jewish Space Laser" was responsible for California's wildfires in 2018.

Manischewitz replied: "Please, don't mess with the Weather Laser. We have it set for a July Fourth full of sunshine. Perfect for grilling up #GefilteDogs."

Annika Rothstein was outraged: "NONE OF US ASKED. This is a hate crime and a monstrosity and it should be tried at The Hague".

The overall reaction was summed up well by @ShulimLeifer who wrote: "I don’t know whether to applaud or weep. How quintessentially Jewish."

The United States Department of Agriculture and the United States Food and Drug Administration have been approached for comment about this monstrosity.
