A ten-year-old boy has been rescued after a truck crash left him hanging 13 metres above the ground from an overpass in northern Israel.
The boy had been travelling in a truck which slid onto its side while crossing the Somech Junction on Route 79 on Sunday morning. It then rolled over and landed on the side of a bridge, hanging, as firefighters described it, "between heaven and earth".
In video footage the boy can be seen hanging headfirst from the truck which is balancing precariously on a series of concrete beams.
While the boy’s father was rescued in a “moderate condition”, retrieving the boy was made more complicated by strong rain and wind, said Fire Department spokesman Shalom Levi. However, the fire service was able to save the boy.
“There were many rescue services at the scene and two cranes were deployed, and after working in very stormy conditions and very strong rain, we managed to rescue the child and transfer him for treatment by the MDA,” said Mr Levi.
