An Israeli production company is launching a reality show inspired by the #MeToo movement.
Called the Silence Breaker, it is billed as an investigative entertainment show that will expose sexual harassment in the workplace and according to the Hollywood Reporter will use hidden cameras to document the harassment, with each show ending with an on-camera confrontation.
Assaf Gil, the CEO of Gil Formats, one of Israel's leading producers of reality TV, said that he wants to show that the #MeToo movement affects people on an everyday basis.
"A lot of the [#MeToo] stories in the news have had to do with famous people, [but] we feel sexual harassment is a much more widespread phenomenon," he said.
“All the women we talked to in the research for this show had some sort of history of some sort of harassment.”
Gil said the show's host would “ideally be a woman with a strong background as a journalist” and emphasised that the show would focus “on the crimes, not the movement”.
