October 22, 2023 13:57Upmarket restaurant chain, Ottolenghi has announced plans to open an eighth outlet — a deli and restaurant by mid-December.
The newest addition to the group, founded by celebrity chef, food writer and restaurateur, Yotam Ottolenghi, in 2003, is due to open on Rosslyn Hill around or just after Chanucah. The group teased the information with an Instagram post late last week showing clips of local sights, including Hampstead Heath.
Guesses ranged from Twickenham to Sydney and Amsterdam with several correct customers picking the leafy north west London suburb.
Announcing the actual location, Ottolenghi London posted: “The newest Ottolenghi deli is opening in December in Hampstead! Bringing you the beautiful cakes and vibrant salads Ottolenghi is known for, and a few new treats. We can’t wait to welcome you.”
On offer will be the chain’s signature vegetable-packed salads; colourful pastries and side plate-sized meringue with coffees and hot breakfasts; lunchtime salad counter plus a range of afternoon cakes bakes through to night-time a la carte dining and cocktails.
At the site, which once was the site of Carluccio’s and more recently, vegan restaurant, Kojo, there will also be a 26-cover terrace.
Israeli-born chef Yotam Ottolenghi founded the first branch in Notting Hill, 20 years ago together with fellow chef, Sami Tamimi. The pair went on to write a host of cookbooks and their food has been credited with inspiring a whole food movement of fresh new flavours and ingredients including tahini, pomegranate, za’atar, sumac and preserved lemons and more which found their way into UK supermarkets and onto our tables. Tamimi has moved on but Ottolenghi, continues to write a newspaper column and cookbooks and has continued to grow the eponymous chain.
Ottolenghi Hampstead will open at 32-34 Rosslyn Hill, NW3.
