Rosh Hashanah foodie gifts - The Jewish Chronicle

If you’ve left your gifting late there are some great options out there to say happy new year with an edible treat.

Maybe because we’ve become used to the socially distant chag, there’s been a growth in the amount of post-able gifts on offer.

My kitchen is a treasure trove of edible treats, many of which I’m hording for next week’s festivities.

Some of the gorgeous goodies I’ve been delighted to find in the postman’s hands are:

The gourmet gift
I literally jumped for joy when the postman handed me a box branded Honey & Co - pictured above. I adore Sarit Packer and Itamar Srulovich, the husband and wife, chef team behind this restaurant and deli group so was delighted to be sent some one of their hampers.

Gifted to me by my friends at VisitIsrael (the Israeli Government Tourist Office) this mini hamper of honey cake, pomegranate-shaped biscuits and jar of honey has the key element of the season. I’m definitely feeling the love with this pressie — can’t wait to sink my teeth into one of Sarit Packer’s honey cakes.
For a 'me' moment:
The smell of freshly roasted coffee that wafts out of this box from Head Room Cafe on opening is divine. This gift of five minutes for me from the folk at mental health charity, JAMI, immediately put me in a happy place. Inside is a bag of ground coffee and a slab of rich, chewy, gooey brownie. The ultimate ‘me-time’ moment in a box. Brew up that coffee and take five, ten or 50 minutes to yourself. Just how long depends on how long you can eke out that brownie. It has to be the perfect start to anyone’s year. (kosher)
A snappy tin of biscuits
The Biscuiteers have produced not only an Instagram-ready range of Rosh Hashanah iced biscuits but also a cute tin to store them in. They are crunchy, colourful Insta-ready treats in a range of shapes: perfectly iced apples; shofarim; honey pots; pomegranates; candles and goblets. Perfect for a Yom Tov tea. Gone cup cake crazy
Lola's Cupcakes have dropped a range of Rosh Hashanah-themed bakes in time for New Year. (Vegetarian) The gift box contains six cute cupcakes made of light, honey sponge filled with juicy chunks of apple compote and topped with a not-too-sweet, honey mascarpone icing.

Sweet like honey
Who would not adore to receive Kisharon’s personalised pots of honey? A mini jar makes a marvellous favour at each person’s place around the table; or totally indulge them with a full-sized jar, which will ensure a sweet new year — just add sliced apple. (Kosher)
Get them in a pickle
Pickles and Bakes have produced the most delicious honey cake — almost as good as mine. Better, if you factor in that I’ve not had to make it. They are beautifully decorated with dried petals and drizzled with honey for a sticky sweet finish. Add a batch of crunchy honeycomb and whoever you send this sweet treat will start their year with a huge smile on their face.
Bags of goodies
Marks and Spencer has collected some of our favourite traditional treats in this gorgeous gold and blue tote. WIldflower honey; apples; pomegranates; Medjool date; kosher honey cake and bottle of kiddush wine. New Year sorted. They'll even deliver it to the lucky recipient's door - from September 3.
