The 20-year-old won four silver medals and two bronze medals. The most important of those medals was the bronze in the all-round competition, the only discipline, which will be an Olympic event in Tokyo next summer.
Ashram also won silver medals in the hoop, ball, and clubs events and a bronze in the ribbons. She was also part of the Israeli quartet with Nicol Zelikman, Nicol Voronkov and Yuliana Telegina that won a silver in the team event, another Olympic event. Zelikman also qualified individually for the Olympics by finishing 11th in the all-round event.
She has now won 12 medals in World Championships over the past three years, including a medal in each of the last three all-round events. This makes Ashram a strong candidate for an Olympic medal.
Ashram said: “It was an exhausting competition in Baku, all the time knowing the event that really counted was the last one. It’s taken me a while to realise I’ve qualified for Tokyo.”
