Avoid filling your house with frying smells with this air fryer recipe. It’s also healthier than the traditional version but you can still get your latkes extra crispy.

Method

  • Start by grating the potatoes, onion and apple. You can do this in a food processor or by hand in the large holes of a box grater.
  • Press out as much excess moisture as you can by squeezing them in a large clean kitchen tea towel.
  • Place the grated potatoes, onions and apple in a large bowl. Add the egg, oats, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix the ingredients well.
  • Preheat the air fryer to 180°C.
  • Lightly grease the air fryer basket or line with baking parchment. Then form portions of the mixture into latkes and arrange them in the basket.
  • Cook at 180°C for approximately 10 minutes, then carefully flip the latkes with tongs.
  • Continue cooking until both sides of the latkes turn golden brown. Turn them again if you need to. The cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of the latkes.
  • If you using, sprinkle with apple crisps before serving and serve hot with apple sauce and or sour cream.
