The KLBD has announced it has  recently certified several of Nando’s rubs and four seasoning shakers as kosher and parev.

The rubs (which can be added to meat, fish and vegetables before cooking to pep up the flavour and give a crunchy crust) are in addition to a range of the (already certified) marinades and sauces produced by the (non-kosher) South African chicken chain.

The recently certified rubs (which do not display a hechsher) come in several flavours including Peri Peri Lemon & Herb, Garlic, Smokey BBQ and, a chilli-packed, Hot. The shakers, which can be used to add flavour to wraps, stir fries and even a plate of fries, are available in options that include Garlic & Herb, Lemon & Herb and Peri Peri Salt.

Rabbi Elie Schoemann, Interim Director of KLBD, said: “We are delighted to bring these products to kosher consumers as we continue our quest to make keeping kosher ever easier across the country. The versatile rubs and shakers are perfect for your summer barbecue and handy to pop in your suitcase if you’re traveling this summer.”
