University Jewish Chaplaincy has announced a restructure ahead of the new academic year.
Suzy Richman, formerly the chief operating officer, will become director of operations and Rabbi Harvey Belovski will become chief executive officer at the end of August.
Ms Richman said: “I am delighted that I will have the chance to spend more time helping Chaplains on the ground, and working closely with Rabbi Belovski to ensure that we continue to deliver first-class support to Jewish students across the UK.”
Ms Richman recently succeeded in appointing a residential chaplaincy couple in the growing Jewish student population Bristol, and establishing weekly Friday night dinners in central London.
Rabbi Belovski, who will be doing the role part-time, said: “I am very excited by the opportunity to lead the UK's premier rabbinic organisation on campus. I look forward to working together with our amazing staff and volunteers at head office and nationally to continue delivering outstanding support and programming for all Jewish students.”
Chaplaincy chairman Uri Goldberg said: “The enhanced roles have been created in order to ensure that we make the maximum impact in all areas. Rabbi Belovski has vast communal experience as the long-standing rabbi of Golders Green Synagogue. He is also a qualified organisational psychologist and has a profound understanding of university culture, making him an ideal choice as CEO.
“Suzy, who has overseen terrific organisational performance and growth across the UK, will be able to work more flexibly, something our organisation, with its national reach, requires.”
