Tribe, the United Synagogue’s youth section, has held graduation dinners for students in Manchester and Cambridge.
The dinner for 35 Cambridge students featured speakers including Tribe consultant Yossi Fachler and Tribe campus ambassador Yehudit Harris.
She said: “It was a really lovely evening and I’m looking forward to attending Young United Synagogue events when I graduate.”
In Manchester, 50 students enjoyed a four-course meal from a kosher Chinese restaurant, served at the city’s student synagogue.
Tribe’s executive director David Collins spoke about the importance of joining a Jewish community after graduating and explained the organisation’s membership schemes for younger people.
Stephanie Woodrow, who works for the organisation, said: “It’s a great feeling being able to help the students in Manchester celebrate their time at university together in a Jewish setting.
“Hopefully they will notice how they have formed their own Jewish student community away from home, and this will increase their willingness to be involved with a community when they move back home.”
