Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat died on Tuesday at 65 after contracting Covid-19 last month, the Associated Press reported.
The senior official was treated in intensive care at Hadassah Medical Centre in Jerusalem where he was put on a ventilator and heavily sedated.
In a statement last month, the hospital described Mr Erekat as a “complex patient” and said he was “a great challenge in terms of his corona treatment."
He was “a lung transplantee with a depressed immune system” and also had a bacterial infection, Hadassah said at the time.
