It may sound like an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but it appears that Larry David really did launch into a tirade at lawyer Alan Dershowitz over his ties to the Trump administration.
A reporter for Page Six, a US gossip website, spotted the two at a grocery shop on the Massachusetts island of Martha's Vineyard and made a note of the exchange.
Mr Dershowitz told Mr David they could “still talk”, but the comedian reportedly confronted him, saying: “No. No. We really can’t. I saw you. I saw you with your arm around [former Secretary of State Mike] Pompeo. It’s disgusting.”
Mr Dershowitz said Mr Pompeo had been a former student of his, but Mr David reportedly doubled down, saying he and his “whole enclave” were disgusting.
According to the report, Mr David then left the shop, with Mr Dershowitz taking off his t-shirt to reveal a second top underneath it marked “It’s the Constitution Stupid”.
Mr Dershowitz confirmed the exchange to Page Six but said “it wasn’t funny at all” and claimed the Seinfeld co-creator had “screamed” at him.
He also told the tabloid he admired Mr Pompeo’s work in the Middle East but had voted for Democrat President Joe Biden.
Mr David’s representative was contacted for comment.
