A New Delhi journalist has been arrested by police, linking him to a bomb attack on an Israeli diplomat’s wife in the city.
Syed Mohammed Kazmi was described in local media as working freelance for an Iranian news agency. Police have searched his property over the last two days, but would not identify any evidence found.
Police spokesman Rajan Bhagat said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday night in southern New Delhi. He is being questioned and is expected to appear in court tonight.
Israel has accused Iran of orchestrating the attack but Indian officials have refused to confirm any Iranian involvement.
Diplomat’s wife Tal Yehoshua-Koren, her driver and two passers-by, were injured in the February 13 attack, in which a man on a motorcycle attached a magnetic bomb on to her car. She was on the way to pick up her children from school.
That same day, a bomb was discovered on an Israeli diplomat’s car in Georgia. The following day, three Iranians caused an accidental explosion at their home in Thailand, which Israel said linked Iran to all three terror attacks around the world.
