The daughter of Hamas leader Ismael Haniyeh was treated in an Israeli hospital following complications after a routine procedure, it was revealed yesterday.
Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv confirmed the admission. A statement from the hospital said: "She is one of more than 1,000 patients from the Gaza Strip and Palestinian Authority territories, children and adults, whom we treat every year."
Haniyeh, who has 13 children, is the Hamas leader in Gaza. He is the deputy to leader Khaled Meshaal, who is in exile in Qatar.
Palestinian sources refuse to either confirm or deny Haniyeh’s daughter’s week-long admission to Ichilov.
In June it emerged that Haniyeh’s mother-in-law had been treated for cancer in an Israeli hospital, and his granddaughter has also received medical attention in Israel.
Haniyeh spent most of the Gaza conflict in hiding. His home, in the north of Gaza, was destroyed by an Israeli airstrike.
