Hamas leader’s granddaughter treated in Israeli hospital

articlemain

One of the granddaughters of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has been transferred from Gaza to an Israeli hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The news emerged when Haniyeh’s son, Abdul Salam, wrote on his Facebook page that his daughter, Amal Haniyeh, aged one, had crossed the "green line" which separates Israel from the Palestinian territories.

Amal suffers from a severe condition in her digestive tract that causes damage to the nervous system.

Major Guy Inbar, a spokesperson for the IDF, told the Times of Israel that Amal had received treatment at the Schneider Children’s Hospital in Petah Tikva.

Haniyeh and the Hamas movement maintain an official policy of hostility towards Israel and just last month called for a new intifada in the West Bank.

Abdul Salam's Facebook post has since been removed and there has been no mention of his daughter's treatment in Israel by Hamas media sources.
