Israel is attempting to alert the world to the dangers of Iran’s nuclear programme through the medium of animation.
A cartoon film stressing the threat posed by Iran was posted online this week, to coincide with ongoing negotiations in Vienna between Iran and six world powers.
In a playful two-minute clip, it depicts Iranian president Hassan Rouhani throwing a bomb at several bowling pins – each bearing the flag of a Western country, including Britain, France and the United States.
A narrator says in English: “Iran is the biggest exporter of terror in the world, spreading instability and debt.
“Under the deal being proposed, Iran will halt its race for an atomic bomb, in return for the lifting of the sanctions which have been slowing it down. However, Iran’s ability to make a bomb will remain intact. Now, this is a big problem.”
President Rouhani is then depicted taking a selfie on his camera phone in front of a nuclear plant site, and writing underneath it: “Me and my beauties”.
The film was made by Israel’s Diaspora Affairs Ministry, whose spokesperson said it was intended to emphasise “how bad the situation [during the crisis talks] has gotten” .
He added: “The film reveals Iran’s true motives and why the world needs to insist that the Tehran dismantles its uranium-enrichment capabilities before a deal is signed.”
Meanwhile, talks in Vienna have made little progress, with Iran still refusing to assuage any concerns about “possibly military dimensions” to its atomic programme.
