An IDF soldier has died in hospital after he was stabbed in a suspected terror attack on a bus in Afula this morning.

The attacker was a Palestinian 16-year-old from the West Bank city of Jenin who had been living in Israel illegally.

According to eyewitness reports, he attacked the soldier as the bus entered the Afula central bus station, repeatedly stabbing him in his neck and upper body, before he was finally subdued by fellow passengers and arrested.

According to police, the suspect confessed to the attack, saying he did it to avenge relatives who were detained in Israeli prisons.

A police spokesperson later confirmed: “The Israeli soldier who was stabbed this morning by a Palestinian on a bus at the Afula bus station has died of his wounds in hospital.”
