A Palestinian man was shot and killed last night after ramming a tractor into an IDF base, in what the army is describing as a suspected terror attack.
The incident happened at the IDF’s Rama Base, which is just just north of Jerusalem, next to the Palestinian neighbourhood of Al-Ram.
According to reports, Younis Radeideh approached the main gate in the early evening. After being denied entry, he rammed the tractor through the barriers and tried to run over soldiers, before being shot dead.
Mr Radeideh’s brother was involved in a similar attack in 2009, when he tried to run over police officers in Jerusalem with a bulldozer.
Speaking after the incident, an IDF spokesman said: “There is an atmosphere that creates motivation to carry out terror attacks."
This follows a recent display of what security officials call “individual terrorism” in the West Bank.
Last week, retired IDF colonel Sariya Ofer was murdered in the Jordan Valley, while two IDF soldiers, Habriel Kobi and Tomer Hazan, were killed last month in separate attacks.
