After a six-month hiatus, Bob Dylan will finally accept the Nobel Prize for Literature this weekend.

The original announcement of the award was made in October last year but Mr Dylan did not respond for a fortnight and was declared “rude and arrogant” by a member of the Swedish Academy which presents the Nobel prizes.

Mr Dylan failed to attend the award ceremony in December, sending instead a speech in which he said he had been stunned by the accolade.

“If someone had ever told me that I had the slightest chance of winning the Nobel prize, I would have to think that I’d have about the same odds as standing on the moon,” he wrote.
