An activist lawyer honoured by a university for her work “combating discrimination” has sparked outrage by calling Israel a “sh*t stain on the human race.”

Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu made the remark on X (formerly Twitter), declaring: “Israel is a sh*t stain on the human race. That’s the tweet.”

After a wave of backlash online, she doubled down: “I. Stand By. Every. Word.”

She tweeted: “'sh*t stain' is the least descriptor I can use for the monstrous evil apartheid terrorist state of Israel.

“I unapologetically and unequivocally stand with the Palestinians, a persecuted minority, who Israel is committing a holocaust against [sic]”.

Mos-Shogbamimu, who received an honorary doctorate from Newcastle University in December for her work on “race equality, combatting discrimination, and promoting diversity and inclusion”, lashed out at critics: “You genocide apologists don't like it? Tough. Keep attacking & trying to 'discredit' 'cancel' 'defame' me as antisemitic - Bring. It. On.”

The outspoken commentator has been a frequent guest on platforms such as the BBC, ITV, CNN, and LBC. However, her latest remarks on X are part of a growing series of anti-Israel posts since October 7.

She previously accused Sir Keir Starmer of prioritising “antisemitism over racism” due to “white supremacy”. She described the prime minister as a “Zionist Political Prostitute who will trade the lives, liberties & livelihoods of Black & Brown people in a heartbeat”.

Earlier this month, Foreign Secretary David Lammy distanced himself from Mos-Shogbamimu after the JC contacted him about his previous endorsement of her book, This is Why I Resist, which he praised for being “written with fearless articulacy”.

Following her Newcastle University award, a university donor withdrew support, expressing “distress” over her social media posts, which they viewed as antisemitic.

The Goldman family, which had supported Newcastle University for 20 years, severed its relationship, including a chair named after David Goldman at the Business School. Daniel Goldman, son of the late philanthropist and technology entrepreneur, said in March that the university failed to act when informed of the family’s concerns.

“My father was a proud Jew and a proud Zionist and we simply cannot be associated with an institution that has decided to take no action in this matter,” Daniel Goldman stated.

When approached by the JC earlier this month, Lammy condemned Mos-Shogbamimu’s remarks on Israel and the Holocaust. A Labour spokesperson added: “David Lammy categorically disagrees with the author’s recent comments highlighted by the Jewish Chronicle, which are completely unacceptable. The Foreign Secretary believes there should be more Holocaust education, not less.”

Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu has been approached for comment.
