Chief Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis will be taking over the JC Twitter account to answer questions as part of Shabbat UK.
Rabbi Mirvis has asked readers to email or tweet their questions about Shabbat and he will answer them online on October 16 between midday and 1pm.
It will be the first time the Chief Rabbi has been involved in a live Twitter exchange. By using the hashtag #weloveshabbat JC readers will be able to communicate directly with him.
Shabbat UK, the national celebration of the day of rest, was initiated by Rabbi Mirvis last year, with the inaugural event attracting more than 100,000 people. This year's event, on October 23-24, is likely to involve even more participants.
Rabbi Mirvis said Shabbat UK was "all about creating powerful Jewish experiences".

He added: "Having travelled around the country, talking to communities about what they achieved last year and their plans for this year, I have heard some incredible stories - one group this year will even be celebrating Shabbat UK from Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for charity.
"Hearing about these experiences has been incredibly exciting and I want to share that excitement with everyone. I'm particularly looking forward to hearing about readers' Shabbat experiences, favourite family memories and Shabbat culinary successes or failures."
