A travel company has left out the word "Israel" from its brochure advertising a holiday in the country.
Riviera Travel, the UK's largest overseas escorted tour operator, offers a trip to "Jerusalem, Galilee & the Dead Sea" in its 2016 brochure sent out to customers. A double-page spread refers to the "Holy Land", "Fertile Crescent" and "Promised Land", yet does not include the word "Israel". Country names are mentioned for other holidays advertised.
Riviera customer Stephen Levinson noticed the missing word while planning a holiday in Israel. Mr Levinson, a former BBC economics correspondent, said: "It was an obvious attempt to write all the copy without writing the word".
Riviera's managing director David Clemson said it was not the company's policy to "either include or exclude country names from our tour copy".
Brochures were written to make a destination "as appealing as possible", he said, adding that Israel was included on the company's website.
