After the Roseanne Barr scandal, you might be forgiven for thinking now is not the time for another 90s sitcom revival. But actress Fran Drescher has announced that her show The Nanny might be making a comeback after 25 years.

Talking to Entertainment Tonight to mark the 25th anniversary of the show, Drescher, who is well-known for her nasally New York drawl, said "People really love that show." 

"We're talking about it. Peter (Marc Jacob, Drescher's ex-husband and show co-creator) and I are talking about it. We're working on a very big project. It's going to be very exciting for the fans, but I'm not at liberty to announce it yet. But it's gonna be big."

The show, which was loosely based on Drescher's personal life and her experience growing up in Queens, New York, followed Fran Fine,nanny to the three children of millionaire British Broadway producer Maxwell Sheffield. 

However, Drescher says that unlike the short-lived Roseanne reboot, the show wouldn't pick up where it had left off. 

"The thing is our show would be the same characters 20 years later. We can't just pick up where we left off. But in a way, that could be really good because the show can have a whole fresh bend to it."
