Jerry Seinfeld has revealed the possibilty of a Seinfeld revival.

The comedian and actor has previously rejected the idea of renewing the hit sitcom in which he starred with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander and Michael Richards. Last year he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight: "Why? Maybe it's nice that you continue to love it instead of us tampering with something that went pretty well."

However, appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Tuesday to promote his new Netflix series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, Seinfeld admitted a revival is "possible".

"All these sitcoms are having a resurgence," DeGeneres said. "Roseanne is doing it, I heard Murphy Brown—is that really true, Murphy Brown is doing it?"

 "I think I know where you're going with this, but why don't you finish it," said Seinfeld.

"Do you think, Jerry, there would be a possibility that Seinfeld would come back?"

"It's possible," Seinfeld said to audience applause. "Oh, they like the idea."

The show originally ran for nine seasons from 1989 to 1998 but the cast reunited in 2009 for a fake reunion on Seinfeld co-creator Larry David's show Curb Your Enthusiasm.
