Police have arrested two men on suspicion of inciting racial hatred, after antisemitic comments appeared on Twitter following Tottenham Hotspur's match against West Ham United in early October.

According to a police spokesperson: “Haringey CID [Criminal Investigation Department] launched an investigation after they were made aware of the tweets, which were of an antisemitic nature and made reference to Hitler and the gas chambers.”

The unnamed men – a 24-year-old man from Croydon and a 22-year-old from Wiltshire – were taken into custody, and have been bailed until late January.

Another man, a 48-year-old from Canning Town, was arrested on December 5 for inciting racial hatred, and has also been released on bail.
