A Tottenham Hotspur fan who was arrested last month in connection with chanting the word “Yid” must wait to find out if he will be charged.
The unnamed 51-year-old man was arrested on October 6 during Spurs’ home game against West Ham United.
According to the police, he was arrested for a “section five public order offence”, suggesting he behaved in an aggressive way that went beyond chanting the Y-word.
The man will was due to appear in court this week, but will now appear on November 16.
Meanwhile, Spurs says it will take “some time” to analyse fans’ responses to its survey on use of the Y-word.
Last month, more than 100,000 supporters were asked for their views on the issue following the Football Association’s statement that fans chanting the word might be liable to criminal prosecution.
