Adam Sandler is to star in a new film, Uncut Gems, from directors Josh and Benny Safdie. According to Deadline Hollywood, the film is being producted by Scott Rudin and Eli Bush - who recently worked together on the Oscar-nominated Lady Bird. Jonah Hill was rumoured to have been cast, but that now seems to have fallen by the wayside.

Sandler has also been cast alongside Jennifer Aniston in comedy-drama Murder Mystery, which will air on Netflix, his sixth feature outing for them. According to Variety, the film follows a New York policeman and his wife, who become suspects in a murder.

The 51-year-old garnered rave reviews for his appearance as Danny in The Meyerowitz Stories, which was also for Netflix, and he is currently touring - for a Netflix special
