Jess Glynne has been nominated for the best newcomer category of the Mobo awards.
The singer, who was interviewed in the JC in July, burst onto the music scene when she sang the vocals on Clean Bandit’s number one hit “Rather Be."
She has since featured on Route 94’s “My Love”, and her debut solo single “Right Here” was in the Top 10.
Ms Glynne who grew up in Muswell Hill told the JC: “I'm a good girl and I have a very good Jewish family who brought me up very well."
She is up against FKA Twigs, Ella Eyre and Kwabs for the prestigious award.
The best newcomer has previously been won by Rita Ora, Tinie Tempah and Jessie J, all now big names on the music scene.
The Mobo awards will take place on October 22nd at the SSE Arena in Wembley.
