An Israeli 19-year-old was stabbed near Jerusalem on Tuesday evening.

The two Palestinian attackers were shot dead by on-site security forces in Gush Etzion, in the West Bank, after they attacked the teenager.

According to Magen David Adom, Israel's leading emergency service, the victim was stabbed in the face and is now being treated at the Shaare Zedek Medical Centre in Jerusalem.

Another stabbing was averted earlier today after a police officer spotted suspicious Palestinian teenagers in Jerusalem.

The youths, from east Jerusalem, were approached and found to be carrying a knife and axe.
