Universal Music Group is to launch a new division of their corporation in Tel Aviv, Israel, to be run by Israeli media executive Yoram Mokady.
Announcing the move, Universal Music said it would focus on the signing and developing of domestic talent, alongside exploring opportunities for commercial partnerships with Israeli companies.
Mr Mokady’s previous role was at HOT Telecoms, an Israeli cable provider, where he served as vice president for content. He was also executive producer on the HBO series Euphoria starring Zendaya.
Adam Granite, Universal Music’s executive vice president for Market Development, praised Mr Mokady’s “extensive experience in managing entertainment content”, stating it would “be vital in establishing Universal Music Israel as the best home for Israeli artist and creator talent.”
Mr Mokady said the new division “will provide a welcome boost for the entire Israeli artist community, whilst strengthening the wider music ecosystem within the country.”
Universal Music already operates in over 60 countries worldwide.
