IDF soldier hit by Gaza rocket dies from injuries

An Israeli soldier has died after being hit by a rocket from Gaza only hours before a ceasefire deal was announced.

Lieutenant Boris Yarmulnik was 28 and came from Netanya. He was injured after the rocket, sent by terrorists operating in the Gaza Strip , landed in the Eshkol region, and today died from his injuries in hospital.

Lt Yarmulnik was a reservist, called to serve after the most recent bout of fighting began between Israel and Gaza last week. Four other soldiers were injured during this attack, one of more than 1,500 rockets sent across the border over eight days.

He was the second soldier to be killed during the fighting. Four civilians were also killed following rocket fire.

Five people remain in hospital in Tel Aviv following Wednesday's blast on a bus in the centre of the city. Accoridng to IDF spokeswoman Avital Leibovich, five rockets were fired into Israel in the first hour of ceasefire.
