IDF retaliates after rocket attack strikes Israeli kindergarten

articlemain

The IDF has responded to a rocket attack on a kindergarten in Sderot by hitting four military sites in Gaza.

Israeli pilots targeted “components of Hamas’s operational infrastructure,” IDF spokesman Peter Lerner reported.

On Friday night, a projectile from Gaza hit a school in the border town of Sderot. No-one was harmed, though reports indicate that some locals suffered shock from the explosions.

Another rocket fired from Gaza fell in an open area of the Sha’ar HaNegev region.

The Israeli response followed the murder of 13-year-old Hallel Yaffe Ariel, who was stabbed to death by a Palestinian man while she was asleep in her home in Kiryat Arba on Thursday.

An Israeli man was also shot dead in a terrorist attack south of Hebron on Friday. The man had been travelling with his wife and two children, one of whom is a baby and was lightly injured.

The strikes on Hamas - whom Israel blames for all attacks from Gaza - came ahead of the arrival of Turkish humanitarian aid in Gaza.

The cargo ship, part of the agreement between Israel and Turkey announced last week, was expected to dock at Ashdod on Sunday afternoon.
