IDF soldiers have prevented an attempted stabbing attack in Hebron.

According to the army, a woman approached the Tzalbanit checkpoint near the Tomb of the Patriarchs on Sunday wielding a knife and yelling when soldiers asked her to identify herself. According to reports the woman was shot and killed in the attack.

Another stabbing attack took place on Sunday in the West Bank when a middle-aged man was injured after getting out of his car after it was attacked by stones near the Metzad settlement. This follows a number of attacks this week on drivers whose cars were first pelted with stones.

According to the IDF the assailant fled the scene and is currently being searched for. Other reports suggest the attacker may have been dressed as an Orthodox Jew.

Earlier in the day another man was arrested after disguising himself as a Jew to carry out a suspected attack.

The Arab man was removed from a bus after complaints were made about his suspicious behaviour. According to reports the man expressed his intention to become a martyr. Police detained and searched him and found a knife and kippah among his belongings. However the incident was deemed to be criminal rather than terrorist and the man was released.

This comes after a week of sustained terror attacks in Israel, starting with a shooting and stabbing attack at Beersheva's central bus station in southern Israel last Sunday. Today police revealed that the man responsible for this attack had been in contact with Hamas and had prepared the attack in advance.

The terrorist has been named as Muhanad Alukabi, 21, and is said to have had photos of Hamas operatives, guns and other weapons saved on his phone, according to a police statement. During the attack Alukabi killed a soldier and wounded 11 other people before being killed himself in a police shootout.
