Drake, whose real name is Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham, will produce Euphoria, a teen drama that follows a group of high school students as they ‘navigate drugs, sex, identity, trauma, social media, love and friendship’, says Variety.
The original Israeli ten-part drama series–which was created by Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin and Tmira Yardeni – aired on Israel’s HOT3. The network previously aired the drama series In Treatment, which was based on the Israeli drama BeTipul.
Drake began his acting career in 2001 playing the character Jimmy Brooks in Canadian drama Degrassi: The Next Generation. Now, he's returning to television, producing Euphoria, written by Sam Levison, who wrote HBO’s The Wizard of Lies, about the American Jewish fraudster Bernie Madoff.
The Jewish rapper revealed his involvement in the show on Twitter. HBO drama head Francesa Orsi described it as "Kids meets Trainspotting, and what might exist when parents don't exist."
He will produce the show alongside DJ Future the Prince, who is also Drake’s manager.
