An anonymous £1.2 million donation from a London trust will save four Israeli schools from closure.
The money has been given to the British Friends of Shuvu, supporting a religious schools network.

Falling donations from the UK and America had put the future of six schools in jeopardy. The pledge from the London trust will preserve the places of over 1,000 students but Shuvu schools in Nahariya and Ashkelon still face closure.

British Friends chairman David Blachman said: “We at Shuvu are eternally grateful to the generosity of the trust, and of all our individual donors who have enabled us to keep our doors open to our students in four of our sites. Our students have been desperate to remain connected to their Jewish heritage on a daily basis and continue learning in the warm and nurturing environment we have provided.”

Founded in 1991, Shuvu’s educational and welfare network encompasses 68 schools and kindergartens and 15,000 children.
