More than 200 people attended a Radlett Synagogue service to remember Celia Levy, wife of emeritus Radlett minister and past US president Elkan Levy. Mrs Levy died in Israel after a long illness on Rosh Hashanah, just shy of her 66th birthday.
After moving to Radlett in 2005, the Levys became leading lights in the congregation until Mr Levy’s retirement from his various communal roles in 2011, when the couple made a long-planned aliyah.
The service began with Rabbi Leo Dee reading the eulogy written by Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks for Mrs Levy’s funeral. It continued with tributes from family and friends. Mr Levy and his family were presented with a compilation of condolences and memories written by congregants.
