Radlett Synagogue’s £1.75 million rebuilding and refurbishment programme has passed its final planning hurdle with Hertsmere Council.

Planners have approved a number of revisions to the original scheme, which was accepted last year. Building work can now go out to tender with the hope of construction starting early next year.

Radlett has been operating in a one-time village hall. The refurbishment will be both interior and exterior and the project will also incorporate the building’s integration with neighbouring houses.

More than £660,000 has been raised by the congregation towards the initial target of £750,000 — the point at which building work can start.
