Rabbi Mark Goldsmith is to leave North-Western Reform Synagogue (Alyth) in Golders Green to become senior rabbi of Edgware and Hendon Reform Synagogue next summer.
After 12 years at Alyth, he will succeed the retiring senior rabbis of EHRS, Daniel Smith and Steven Katz.
EHRS was formed from the merger of Edgware and Hendon’s Reform communities a year ago to form one of the Reform movement’s largest congregations.
Rabbi Goldsmith, who led Finchley Progressive Synagogue before he moved to Alyth, said he was delighted at his appointment.
Stephen Garfinkel and Philip Bright, joint chairmen of EHRS, said they were“excited to have Mark Goldsmith join our vibrant community, and we look forward to working with him in developing the future of EHRS”.
