Maria Friedman and other stars from the West End production of Fiddler on the Roof provided the entertainment as more than 1,000 Norwood supporters backed the charity to the tune of £3 million at its annual dinner on Monday night.
The theme of the night was We Are Extraordinary and addressing the guests at Grosvenor House in Park Lane, charity co-president Lady Nicola Mendelsohn said: “Most of us are fortunate enough to be able to take the ordinary things we do each day for granted.
"For people in distress or experiencing challenge, just doing the ordinary things sometimes takes a little extra.
"We will pursue excellence relentlessly," she pledged. "Our job is to get better – better facilities, better quality of care, better support for key staff and all while maximising the development potential of all those in our services.”
The proceeds represent a quarter of the funds Norwood needs to raise from the community to maintain services.
