Borehamwood and Elstree Synagogue’s community rabbinic couple Sam and Emma Taylor are set to leave for one of Canada’s leading Orthodox synagogues.
Rabbi Taylor has been offered the role of senior rabbi at Shaarei Shomayim Congregation in Toronto.
Robin Gofine, president of Shaarei Shomayim, said, “We are thrilled that we have found a rabbi and rebbetzin who are such an excellent fit for our shul.”
BES chairman Sam Franklin informed congregants that the Taylors have been offered the opportunity, subject to agreeing terms and conditions.
“In the nearly two years at BES, the Taylors have worked tirelessly to support the community through the pandemic and launched many successful initiatives within BES,” he said. “On behalf of the community I would like to thank them for their all the dedication and achievements for BES.”
Before BES, they had been in central London as community rabbi and rebbetzin of Western Marble Arch Synagogue.
