Big dinner money for MDA

articlemain

Dinners supporting Magen David Adom in London and Manchester this week raised £1.5 million and £115,000 respectively.

They were addressed by the president of the Jordanian Red Crescent Society, Dr Mohammed Al-Hadid, who focused on MDA’s partnerships with their Jordanian and Palestinian counterparts.

“I was invited to the opening of a hospital in Israel which treats Arabs and Israelis,” he told diners in Manchester.

“if we can do it in a hospital, we should be able to work together elsewhere.”
Dr Al-Hadid and MDA UK recently negotiated the donation of £360,000 worth of medicine for Syrian refugees in Jordan from Israeli pharmaceutical company Teva’s Irish factory.

MDA UK’s Daniel Burger said the charity’s target was to be raising £10 million a year within five years.

“We have new philanthropic donors who recognise that MDA is a highly tangible cause.

“You give an ambulance and see it saving lives on the streets of Tel Aviv.”
