The body of a former JFS pupil on a tour of South America has been found on a hiking trail in Argentina.
David Minn, 24, an aerospace engineer who graduated from the University of Sheffield last year, had been declared missing on Monday after he failed to return to his hostel.
Local media reported that he fell while hiking alone on a rocky path in the Tierra del Fuego region.
It is believed Mr Minn, from Borehamwood, fell more than 100 feet and suffered a blow to his head, although the exact cause of death is not yet clear.
Police chief Alejandra Giordano told local reporters: "An autopsy is taking place to discover what happened. Apparently he suffered a fall in an area where there are a lot of rocks.”
Mr Minn, a former FZY participant, arrived in Ushuaia, known as “the end of the world”, on Sunday night before leaving the hostel on Monday. When he had not returned that evening hostel owners alerted the police, and Mr Minn’s body was discovered by a group of trekkers on Wednesday.
His sister, Hayley, 26, a journalist for the Daily Mirror, tweeted on Thursday: “We got the devastating news we didn’t want and it’s breaking my heart."
Honestly I’m so grateful to you all for sharing this but please stop now as we got the devastating news we didn’t want and it’s breaking my heart seeing people still try and help find him.
