Amy Winehouse’s devotion to her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has been revealed in previously unseen love letters that are being put up for auction.
In one, a Valentine’s Card sent to Fielder-Civil while he was in prison after a conviction for assault, the singer writes he is “an ache in my guts. I belong to you. I always have”.
The card, along with a letter containing hand-written lyrics to her hit song, Love is a Losing Game, are being sold in London later this month by Bonham’s auction house as part of a sale of entertainment memorabilia.
The two lots are expected to fetch over £5,000. The identity of the seller has not been revealed.
Ms Winehouse died in 2011 after a long battle with drink and drug addiction. An inquest ruled that she had died after a heavy drinking session.
The star, who grew up in a Jewish family in Southgate, married Mr Fielder-Civil in 2007, but their relationship was stormy, and they divorced two years later.
Mr Fielder-Civil, who was jailed within months of their wedding, revealed his regret at introducing her to heroin in interviews following the singer’s death.
Winehouse’s father, Mitch, has spoken of his belief that Mr Fielder-Civil was responsible for many of the troubles that beset his daughter.
But the couple’s relationship also provided the inspiration for the singer’s hit 2006 album, Back to Black, which has sold over 12 million copies.
Proceeds from previous sales of Winehouse memorabilia have gone to the Amy Winehouse Foundation,which was set up after the singer’s death to fund drug education programmes.
But a spokesperson for the foundation confirmed this week it had “no connection” with the sale of the letters and “knew nothing about it”.

They could easily be the lyrics to one of her hit songs. The words, scrawled across a Valentine’s card, tell of the heartache and longing that Amy Winehouse felt for Blake Fielder-Civil, after he filed for divorce to end their two-year marriage.
“I belong to you,I always have,” she writes. “I can’t wait to propose to you, every single day we’ll wake up alongside each other. Our day will come.”
The pain of their on-off seven-year relationship is clear. “You are an ache in my guts, darling,” she writes, “every pang I feel in my body.”
The card, sent in February 2009, is addressed to “Mr B Civil” at Edmunds Hill Prison, Suffolk, features the character Linus from the Peanuts comic strip,incongrously smiling, and is signed “Gemma”, the name Winehouse used as a code when writing to Mr Fielder-Civil in jail.
