Amy Winehouse’s mother Janis and her family highlighted their connection to Norwood at a reception for young Norwood patrons at the Jewish Museum in Camden’s Amy Winehouse exhibition.

The father of Janis Winehouse and her brother Brian Seaton was a Norwood boy and Mr Seaton said: “My father would talk about Norwood and how important it was to him. It gave him security, a way of life and a future. In many ways Janis and I are beneficiaries of Norwood. It was important to him, it’s important to me and it’s important to us.” Family members also spoke passionately about the Amy Winehouse Foundation.

Launched 20 years ago, Young Norwood has become a crucial part of Norwood’s fundraising drive. Over the past year, YN supporters have helped the charity to raise £500,000 through their events and the YN patronage programme.

Thanking the patrons, Norwood chairman-elect David Ereira said: “In an ever unstable climate, you are the ones who ensure that Norwood remains a market leading service provider for people with learning disabilities, vulnerable children and families in need. Each and every one of you is instrumental in securing our future. Thank you so much for your commitment .”
