Police are investigating why a report into the circumstances of Amy Winehouse's death was delivered to the wrong address.

Although the Metropolitan Police did not detail the contents of the report, they confirmed that it contained material "relating to a forthcoming inquest".

The mix-up came to light after the document was handed in at a north London police station on Friday, hours after it arrived on the wrong doorstep.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said than inquiries were now under way "to establish the full circumstances of this matter."

The inquest into the singer's death last July, at the age of 27, is set to reopen this week.It has already been determined that there were no illegal substances in her system when she died.
