Ray Abrahams praised Catford & Bromley Maccabi for a terrific performance after MGBSFL Division Two table-toppers Scrabble FC made it 12 points from four matches after a five-goal thriller at Meadow Park.
Inspired by the JC's pre-match prediction of a 4-0 win for the high-flyers, the Cats stormed out of the blocks and forged ahead through Jamie Sinai.
The hosts were playing some good football against a lethargic Scrabble side but missed a whole host of chances to extend their lead and Scrabble were relieved to hear the half-time whistle.
Scrabble made some changes at half time packing the midfield and within five minutes were level through McLeod following a goalkeeping error.
McLeod bagged a second and Elliot Espinoza added to the score as Scrabble went 3-1 up playing some superb football.
A late Catford goal via Sinai made it a nervy last five minutes for Scrabble but they held on to maintain their 100 per cent start in the League with their fourth straight league win in a row.
Scrabble FC boss Ray Abrahams told JC Sport: "For the first 45 minutes we looked as if we were still hungover from last week's mauling by Brady and Catford certainly gave us a scare today and were 1-0 up at half time.
"I had to have keep my players on the pitch at the break and some strong words were exchanged but I must say we responded brilliantly in the second half going 3-1 up within 25 minutes.
"But fair play to Catford who scored a second and didn't give up to make it a nervy last five minutes but we held on for the points and I was very pleased with the second half performance."
Cats boss Jeff Gotch was delighted with his team's performance.
"Danny Caro had this down as a 4-0 loss and yes we lost 3-2 but I couldn't be any prouder of the boys today
"For 45 there was only one team in it and we went in at half time 1-0 up.
"The boys did exactly what I asked and pushed them back and didn't allow them any time on the ball.
"The only regret was not being three or four up at the break as we created a lot and honesty should have been out of sight
"Scrabble had a 20-minute spell where they scored three times. We could have capitulated but we drove on and scored a second with 15 to go. The game petered out after that and it just wasn't to be.
"We're not too down though as we gave the top team a great game and it was an advert for what it to come."
