This is luxury boutique accommodation in Italy's Le Marche region, with stunning views from every corner - the imposing Sibillini mountain range on one side, the Adriatic coast of Ancona and Pesaro on the other.
British owners Madeline and Tim Jones have created a stunning hilltop boutique residence that shakes hands with regional architecture but with a modern twist.
Each of the eight guest rooms is a work of art, an individual theme combining Italian antique furniture with state-of-the-art technology. All have large, flat-screen TVs, walk-in power showers, espresso machines (well, this is Italy after all) and lots of space.
The lounge has deep, comfortable couches that you just have to relax into with a good book and a glass of wine. The upstairs terrace and art deco bar is a large, airy space to sit and soak up the sun and sip cocktails on a balmy night.
Then there is the restaurant, the place where Tim casts his culinary expertise, the result of a few years' tutelage in five-star hotels under the wing of one of Asia's top chefs.
He creates pizzas from a wood-fired oven and regional dishes that have got the locals excited enough to be regular patrons.
Outside, the pool area, purposebuilt into the side of the hill just below the hotel and surrounded by comfortable loungers, is the place to long for after a hard day spent exploring Marche's many hills and valleys.
In short, Hotel Leone is a labour of love by a couple who have single-handedly transformed this ancient palazzo into a stunning residence atop the medieval hilltop town of Montelparo in Le Marche, one of Italy's still to be discovered regions.
